Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has shaken up its senior management in a move that will see chief operating officer (COO) Kirk Stephenson take a more senior role at the firm under the title of managing director.

The change, which is set to come into effect within the next month, will see Stephenson and chief executive Hugh Crisp divide up the responsibilities held by former chief executive Alan Peck, who retired earlier this year.
