For a firm that most Scottish lawyers describe as “a very pleasant place to work”, MacRoberts seems to have had something of a problem retaining its partners in recent months.

Since last summer, one of Scotland’s most likely candidates to break into the Big Four gang of leading Scots firms has lost seven partners. Considering that the firm only has 20 equity partners, and that one of those departures was joint managing partner, chief strategist and head of its key construction practice, Lindy Patterson, this is big news.
