On 11 October the Office of Telecommunications (Oftel), the UK’s telecom regulatory body, will advertise an invitation to tender for a position on its first formal law firm panel.

Traditionally, the nine-strong in-house team, headed by Sebastian Farr, handled the bulk of its legal work internally, instructing the Bar directly when necessary. However, during the past year, Oftel has used Theodore Goddard and Fox Williams for telecoms, property and employment work. The panel is expected to be finalised by the end of December.
