The NCUA promoted Cherie Freed to Region V Director for the agency's Tempe,Ariz., office.

Freed will replace current, retiring Regional Director ElizabethWhitehead in May. Region V covers Alaska, Arizona, California,Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

She'sbeen an enthusiastic and capable leader in our Region V office, andwe wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

After joining the NCUA in 1987, Freed served as a credit unionexaminer and as the associate regional director for operations inRegion V. Her career at the NCUA has included serving as theagency's acting deputy executive director, Region V director ofsupervision, a loss risk analysis officer, a corporate credit unionexaminer and a problem case officer.
