The $40 million Golden West Cities Federal Credit Union CreditUnion in Garden Grove, Calif., has merged with the $710 millionCreditUnion of Southern California in Brea, according to a CU SoCalstatement.

Jacqueline Wadsworth, president/CEO of the Golden West CitiesFCU, will “extend her retirement to act in an advisory position forone year,” the prepared statement said.

“We are eager to continue serving our members' financial needsas part of the CU SoCal team,” Wadsworth said. “This merger createdtremendous opportunities for members and employees. With thispartnership, we are able to remain committed to the high level ofservice our membership deserves while simultaneously offering themgreater convenience and more innovative products and services.”

The cooperative, originally named Garden Grove City EmployeesFederal Credit Union, was established in 1960 to serve thefinancial need employees of the city of Garden Grove. In 1976, thecredit union's name was changed to Golden West Cities FCU.

The 3,850-member Golden West Cities FCU's sole branch remainsopen and its employees continue to work for CU SoCal.
