West Virginia Credit Union League President Kenneth Watts saidcredit unions in that state dodged the bullet even though parts ofWest Virginia have been smothered with one to three feet of snowgenerated by what's now been dubbed Superstorm Sandy.

The blizzard conditions were not expected to subside untilWednesday afternoon.

“For the most part things are doing pretty well for creditunions in West Virgina,” Watts said. “We've talked to credit unionsthroughout the state and things have been operating at a slightdelay in some cases but there were no closings we are awareof.”

Although there were more than 236,000 customers without powerearly Tuesday, according to media reports, credit unions in thestate were apparently not affected.

“I've been pleasantly surprised that most of our credit unionshave been open,” said Watts. One credit union housed in a schoolhad been closed Tuesday because schools across the state wereshuttered due to the blizzard.
