REGIONAL Federal Credit Union's new political action committeerecently got a visit from U.S. Rep. Peter Visclosky (D-Ind.) duringits first meeting.

The $95 million Hammond, Ind. credit union hosted thecongressman along with members and representatives from the IndianaCredit Union League and other local credit unions.

Visclosky addressed such topics as interchange, federal creditunion taxation and member business lending as well as more localconcerns.

REGIONAL FCU President/CEO Jill Banning spoke with thecongressman about credit unions and warned him about potentialconsequences for credit unions and their members if the interchange legislation delay bill does not pass.

“Having Representative Visclosky come to our office and spendtime with our group was very valuable,” she said. “The purpose ofour PAC is to make members more informed about the issues that areimportant to them and to provide access to those individuals whoare legislative decision makers. I think we accomplished that inthis first meeting and we have a good model for future events.”

The REGIONAL FCU PAC is chaired by Kevin Kosek, Regional'sdirector of business development. Its next meeting is scheduled forSeptember.
