WEOKIE Credit Union Foundation, Oklahoma City, recently presented its Money Talks financial education program to students in the Putnam City School District. Nathan Gillen, WEOKIE Foundation's financial education director, visited life-skills classrooms at the Putnam City Academy. Gillen covered the fundamentals of credit and the importance of credit scores. More than 30 juniors and seniors attended the class. Gillen also visited Putnam City West High School and discussed basic savings and the ways people make, manage and multiply money with the careers class. "The students have done a great job of taking the information presented and combining with terms and concepts they already know to give them a better understanding of how credit works," Gillen said. The WEOKIE Foundation provides a formal avenue of charitable giving for WEOKIE Credit Union and offers financial education and scholarship opportunities to Oklahoma City and surrounding communities.
