Funeral services will be held in Charlotte Saturday for Roger Shelor, president/CEO of the $332 million Carolinas Telco FCU, who died Tuesday. He was 78.

A past chairman of the North Carolina Credit Union League, Shelor is credited with guiding the growth of the AT&T-based CU since he joined the institution in 1965. He was winner in 1991 of the "Mark of Excellence Award" from the league.

"This is a huge loss for the credit union movement," said NCCUL President/CEO John Radebaugh. "Roger leaves behind not only a lasting legacy in his credit union and the movement, but also a remarkable testimony to how businesses ought to be run."
