BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Former Credit Union Times Special Assignments Reporter Carol Anne Burger, age 57, has died from an apparent suicide.

Burger, who shared a home with her former longtime partner Jessica Kalish, was found by police just hours after having learned that Kalish had been murdered. Both cases are currently under investigation.

Known for her investigative reporting, Burger's in-depth series of stories such as the events surrounding the Oklahoma City bombing and the recovery of Federal Employees Credit Union, the campaign to pass the Credit Union Membership Access Act and coverage of consumer financial privacy issues earned her recognition from the Florida Magazine Association and the American Association of Business Press Editors.
