SALEM, Ore. — Oregon-based CUSO CU Wireless is making it easier for parents and kids to stay in touch.

The CUSO has unveiled Firefly, a new cell phone product that has no numeric keypad– just preprogrammed mom and dad buttons so children don't have to memorize phone numbers. The phone also has a PIN controlled phone book where other important numbers can be stored. In addition, there are no up front costs, no long term contracts, and parents are alerted when their child is approaching their monthly allowance limit.

The move is designed to help credit unions in their efforts to attract young families to become first time members or open new accounts.
