COLUMBIA, S.C. — Credit unions have begun to reach out the families of the nine Charleston South Carolina fire fighters who were killed on June 19 while fighting a fire in a furniture store.

The nine ranged in age from 27 to 56.

The collection of funds is being coordinated through the National Credit Union Foundation's Web site (www.cuaid.coop) and being collected by the South Carolina Firefighters Federal Credit Union.
