WASHINGTON – Although the Internet is old hat now, there are still hundreds of credit unions that are discovering the channel each year. According to Callahan & Associates, the number of credit unions with a Web site increased from 5,369 as of year-end 2004 to 5,523 by the end of last year. These sites are also getting more functional with features like online lending and online banking/bill pay. As of year-end 2004 there were 4,073 interactive CU sites, and by year-end 2005 that moved up to 4,503. See chart here for a more historical look at credit unions' Web presence.
