GREENSBORO, N.C. – In an initiative designed to get more local credit union representatives involved in the political process, the North Carolina Credit Union League has decided to underwrite the travel costs for credit unions with less than $20 million in assets to the Hike the Hill and State Capital Connections meetings. NCCUL's program will cover transportation, hotel and group meal costs for one representative from each credit union that participates. League President John Radebaugh said the time was right to start such a program. He said lawmakers in Washington, D.C. and Raleigh repeatedly tell the league they want to hear from more people in their districts back home. "This program will make it easier for more credit unions to be involved in the political process, and make our lobbying efforts even more effective."
