ARLINGTON, Va. – For the first time this year, the NASCUS annual conference and symposium will be presented as a State System Summit. The three-day event will be held Aug. 10-12 in Dana Point, Calif. It's designed to give state regulators and state chartered credit unions the opportunity "to come together and identify the legislative, regulatory and economic challenges facing the state-chartered credit union system," said NASCUS President/CEO Mary Martha Fortney. NASCUS Chairman Linda Jekel, director, Division of Credit Unions, Washington state, said it's particularly important for state regulators to attend the event because unlike in previous years when NCUA used to hold a national forum for state regulators in the spring to discuss issues at the national level, that forum will not be held in 2006.
