UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – NASA Federal Credit Union and PrinceGeorge's County Excellence in Education Foundation teamed up atBaltimore Orioles' AA affiliate Bowie's Baysox Stadium to kick offthis Spring's fundraising event to put libraries inside classroomsthroughout the County. NASA FCU President and CEO Douglas M. Allmanthrew the honorary first pitch at opening day where a portion ofthe proceeds from all ticket sales went to the Excellence inEducation Foundation program. The two-game event raised more than$2,500. “Reading is the foundation for academic success and NASAFederal Credit Union is committed to supporting education in thecommunities we serve,” said Allman. “We appreciate the opportunityto join other organizations and citizens who are working to improveclassrooms and make learning a wonderful experience for thestudents in our area.” Libraries Inside the Classroom Initiative isdesigned to provide a set of classroom library books to teachersand students in grades 4-9. Each classroom set contains 100 booksand serves 66,000 students. The books are a combination of fictionand non-fiction at different reading levels and are designed toappeal to all readers including ESOL (English for Speakers of OtherLanguages) and Special Education students.
