WASHINGTON-CUNA recently sent a letter to its member credit unions seeking nominations to fill a number of board openings. CUNA Board seats up for election include District 1, Class B; District 2, Class C; District 3, Class A; District 3, Class D; District 4, Class B; District 4, Class D; District 5, Class A; and District 6, Class C; according to a letter to the membership from Board Secretary Don Larsen. The seats are currently occupied and no one holding them has served their maximum three, three-year terms, but CUNA did not immediately know who would be running for re-election, Vice President of Communications and Media Outreach Pat Keefe said. For those who were on the board pre-Renewal, when CUNA's Board was reorganized, the maximum term is 12 years, he added. The deadline for nominations and seconds is June 6. To be eligible, a nominee must be an employee or voting board member of the nominating credit union, the nomination of which must be in writing and seconded by two other credit unions in the district and class. League presidents must be nominated by the league and seconded by at least one other league in the district. CUNA Districts are divided by: District 1: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands. District 2: Delaware, District of Columbia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia. District 3: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. District 4: Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. District 5: Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming. District 6: Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, American Samoa, Guam, Johnston Atoll, Midway Atoll, Northern Mariana Islands, Palmyra Atoll and Wake Atoll. Each CUNA district includes three credit union representative from different asset size groups and one league representative. District classes are divided as follows: Class A: credit unions having less than 16,000 natural person members. Class B: credit unions having at least 16,000 but not more than 61,999 natural person members. Class C: credit unions having at least 62,000 natural person members. Class D: league presidents. Those elected will begin their terms at the conclusion of CUNA's annual general meeting held during the Future Forum Sept. 24-27 this year in San Francisco. [email protected]
