RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Auto Expert, a wholly-owned autobuying/brokering CUSO of Altura CU, has converted to a limitedliability corporation. The LLC status gives the CUSO greaterflexibility in servicing its credit union clients, said Auto ExpertPresident Jennifer Binkley. Formed as a CUSO in 1998, RiversideCounty's CU – as Altura CU was known then – formed the CUSO becauseit was dissatisfied with the customer service it felt members werereceiving from an outside vendor the CU had used then to locatevehicles and assist members with auto purchases. By 2003, AutoExpert was actively marketing its services to other CUs for theirmembers as well. The CUSO now serves 12 credit unions with assetstotaling $2.26 billion and an aggregate membership of 325,000.Eleven of the CUs are in Southern California, and one is inMichigan.
