WASHINGTON-At a reception on October 8 in the Gold Room of Rayburn House Office Building, CUNA hosted a reception celebrating National Cooperative Month. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), who was unable to attend the ceremony, and Congressman Bob Ney (R-Ohio) received the Co-op Statesperson Award, honoring public officials who acknowledge the importance of cooperatives in the economy and support their efforts. While Daschle was unable to attend the reception, CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica and National Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives CEO Glenn English presented him the award earlier in the day. Mica served as this year's chair of the National October is Co-op Month Planning Committee.
