WASHINGTON – The Association of Corporate Credit Unions recently published The Journey – A History of the Corporate Credit Union Network. Commissioned by ACCU and written by John H. Arnold, former CEO of Southwest Corporate FCU, the book looks at the evolution of the corporate credit union network. Arnold started his credit union career as the first manager of Monsanto FCU. In 1975, Arnold became the first president of Southwest Corporate FCU, where he remained until his retirement in April 1995. The book is dedicated to one of the pioneers of the corporate network, Dick Ayres, the first leader of U.S. Central. "[Dick's] concepts and interpretation of the credit union philosophy – self-help, self-determination, and self-administration – played a major role in the developmental framework for the corporate credit union network," said Arnold.
