ARLINGTON, Va.-NAFCU announced last week that it has teamed up with the American Savings Education Council (ASEC), founded in 1995, whose goal is to increase public awareness of savings and provide for financial independence. NAFCU's members will now have access to a variety of savings materials directed at consumers through ASEC. The two groups will be setting up a pilot program of about six NAFCU-member credit unions that will be able to work closely with ASEC to customize the materials, including the council's consumer brochures, Web-based resources, and public service announcements. Other member credit unions may customize these items on their own with their name and logo. All NAFCU members can order ASEC's materials or get them from the group's Web site at www.asec.org. NAFCU also sees the partnership as a networking opportunity with other ASEC members, including Prudential, the American Association of Retired Persons, the Consumer Federation of America, the Social Security Administration, Department of Labor, Treasury, and others.
